Aims and Objectives
This project aims to remove the barriers that continue to restrict online access for most people with disabilities. Key objectives are:
- to define a core set of adaptive equipment, suited to people with a different range of disabilities
- to develop training packages for different groups of disabilities, based on observation of users (for applications such as email, World Wide Web, and online public access catalogues (OPACs) )
Other objectives are:
- to evaluate the performance of each piece of adaptive equipment according to a set of standards developed for the project
- to develop standards and policies for appropriate levels of online public access for disability groups
- to promote the development of targetted public library services for people with disabilities
Client Group Strategy
The research and development plan for the present project aims to include at least 100 people with disabilities (over a two-year period) in Victorian Public Libraries and one NSW regional library.
We will report on our findings so far.
