Principles of Accessible Web Design
Larry Stillman, Diversity Services, Vicnet
What is Web Accessibility and what are Web Accessibility Standards?
- Why bother? Who has special needs on the web?
- What adaptive technology is out there? Does it work?
- Are we being educated properly about how to write pages for the web?
- How do we know how to test if our pages are accessible?
These issues, and more, will be covered in a short workshop. The workshop will be of interest not just to web designers, but those responsible for commissioning or managing the development of online content.
It will also assist you in working with design guidelines such as The Commonwealth's guidelines for accessibility to electronic information.
In order to best benefit from the workshop, a hands-on knowledge of how web pages are created and managed is strongly suggested.
