Louise Whitaker Women's Justice Network, Toowoomba, Qld

lwhittak@legalaid.qld.gov.au

The Women's Justice Network is a network of community organisations and legal advice services connected through computer Videoconferencing facilities and a legal information database. The Network is a pilot project of Legal Aid Qld funded through Networking the Nation. By August 1999, 18 communities in South-West Queensland and 7 legal advice services in Toowoomba and Brisbane will have WJN pc Videoconferencing sites. Legal information and advice can be obtained though these sites.

In this presentation, Louise Whitaker will describe the development of the project and reflect on issues of access. She will explore what it is that WJN is learning about using the web and Videoconferencing to not only increase information flow but improve access to services.
